One Year Later: A Space for Connection and Mourning
Sunday, October 6, 2024
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
This has been an incredibly difficult year. Our community is heartbroken by the immense loss of life in Israel and Palestine in the last year. Jewish tradition embraces communal grief, which provides a supportive framework we need for healing. Join MaTovu on October 6 for an inclusive and communal Jewish ritual to mark, reflect on, and process the grief and difficulty of the last year.
We embrace the diversity of our community, and this ritual seeks to hold space for everyone, irrespective of the many complex, challenging, and nuanced perspectives and emotions we have carried over the past year. Whatever and whomever you are mourning, this space is for you. Whether you are alive with anger, sitting in hopelessness, inspired to action, or weighed down by grief, you are welcome in this space. Programming will focus on bringing participants together through shared ritual, inclusive prayer, communal song, and time for quiet personal reflection on whatever you’re mourning.
The ritual will begin at 3:30 and last for roughly one hour. For 30 minutes before and after the ritual, the space will be open and available for our community to use for connection or however you wish. Join us in coming together to connect and strengthen us as a community as we continue our shared work for peace and justice everywhere. RSVP required.
