MaTovu and Shaare Emeth are partnering to offer a 3 week series that will explore the amazing, creative, empowering, and transformative world of midrash. For contemporary Jews- especially for those of us whose voices have been traditionally excluded from the canon- the ancient tradition of midrash has become a critical tool for expressing ourselves and for finding ourselves in sacred texts.
In Making Midrash with MaTovu, Rabbi Bearman and Lucy Greenbaum will introduce us to midrash, they'll help us explore the possibilities within the genre, and, for those who are interested, they will lead us in creating our own midrashim.
This class is for people of all levels of Jewish experience and knowledge. Everyone is welcome regardless of whether they are a Torah Study wiz or haven't thought about the Hebrew Bible in years. Each session will take place on Zoom from 7-8pm. Registration is required: https://us02web.zoom.us/.../tZYqcuivpjsvGtGnOOgJuWfbtopPM...
